Founded on a Personal Journey into Disability Care

On 11 January 2003, my son, Aadam was born. He arrived with an extremely rare genetic disorder that presented with both physical and mental needs. In too many ways to count, Aadam was a true gift, or rather, a precious loan from the Almighty. Tragically, just 15 years after he came, the time on the loan was up. Aadam left us, and we were left broken-hearted.

Aadam spent much of his short, treasured life in hospitals, in emergency rooms, enduring sometimes long and painful treatment, but through it all, he, as many of the special people we have met on our journey do, bore it all with great courage and resilience. I learned a lot about real bravery from my son. I learned a lot about love from him, too. Nobody ever loved the way Aadam loved. He was truly a blessing from the Almighty, and he changed the path and course of my life.

Our experience with Aadam’s needs opened our eyes to the needs of others. There are millions of able and otherwise healthy people living below the poverty line. Not to mention the disabled, the widowed, the orphaned. Of course, we were aware of it, but until Aadam, we had never really seen it.

So, in 2012, I left the comforts of London and moved with my young family to South East Asia. Since then, I (and my family) devoted our lives to help those in the greatest need wherever we could.

We have been fortunate enough to have been able to establish many great initiatives with your help, including:
• Life Care Centres providing structured disability care
• Mobility support, including wheelchairs and medical transport
• Outreach programmes for people who are unable to visit our LifeCare Center.
• Education initiatives, including the construction of a girls’ school and hostel, and many more projects.

Aadam is still with us, each and every day. He is in every one of these projects we have been blessed enough to help establish and support. The memory of his love (and his hugs) drives us to continue his legacy.
